SNAP-8 10MG
SKU: SNAP8-10MG | Category: Research Compounds
Acetyl octapeptide-3 | SNAP-25 N-terminal analog | SNARE complex research tool | ≥99% purity
SNAP-8 (Acetyl Glu-Glu-Met-Gln-Arg-Arg-Ala-Asp-NH2, also known as acetyl octapeptide-3) is a synthetic octapeptide corresponding to the N-terminal eight amino acids of SNAP-25 (synaptosomal-associated protein 25), a component of the SNARE protein complex responsible for regulated vesicular exocytosis. SNAP-8 functions as a competitive analog for SNAP-25 binding within the SNARE complex.
Research applications include in vitro SNARE complex assembly inhibition assays, competitive binding studies between SNAP-8 and full-length SNAP-25 for syntaxin and synaptobrevin binding sites, vesicular release assay models using chromaffin or neuronal cell lines, and mechanistic studies dissecting the contribution of the SNAP-25 N-terminus to SNARE zippering kinetics. It is a useful pharmacological tool for studying neurotransmitter release machinery at the molecular level.
