Sermorelin (GHRH 1-29 NH2) is a synthetic 29-amino acid peptide corresponding to the N-terminal biologically active fragment of endogenous human growth hormone-releasing hormone (hGHRH, 44 amino acids). The C-terminal amidation is critical for full biological activity and receptor binding affinity at the GHRH receptor (GHRHR), a class B (secretin family) GPCR.

Research applications include GHRHR binding affinity and activation studies (cAMP accumulation, PKA activation), pituitary somatotroph cell culture models of GH synthesis and secretion, pharmacokinetic modeling studies comparing sermorelin to full-length GHRH and modified analogs (CJC-1295), structure-activity relationship analysis of the GHRH N-terminal domain, and investigation of GHRH receptor regulation under varying physiological conditions.
