Synthetic tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly | Telomere and aging biology research | ≥99% purity
Epithalon (also referred to as Epitalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide with the sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, derived from the pineal peptide preparation epithalamin. It has been studied as a research tool in the context of telomere biology, specifically for its reported ability to activate telomerase (hTERT) expression in somatic cell cultures — a property relevant to replicative senescence and cellular aging research.
Research applications include telomerase activity assays (e.g., TRAP assay), telomere length analysis via qPCR or FISH in primary cell cultures, investigation of pineal peptide interactions with the HPA and reproductive axes, and comparative aging biology studies. Epithalon’s small, defined structure makes it a tractable model compound for peptide-DNA interaction studies.
