SEMAX 10MG
SKU: SEMAX-10MG | Category: Research Compounds
ACTH(4-7)-Pro-Gly-Pro heptapeptide | Neuropeptide | BDNF/VEGF signaling model | ≥99% purity
Semax (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) is a synthetic heptapeptide analog corresponding to the ACTH(4-7) fragment with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro extension. Unlike the parent ACTH fragment, Semax does not possess adrenocorticotropic activity, making it a cleaner tool for studying peptide effects on neurotrophic signaling pathways independent of HPA axis activation.
Research has focused on Semax-induced BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) and VEGF upregulation in cortical and hippocampal neuronal cultures, its effects on NGF expression and serotonin receptor density, dopaminergic and enkephalinergic system interactions, and investigation of neuroprotective mechanisms against hypoxic and ischemic insult in cell culture models. Its ACTH backbone provides a useful structural comparator for melanocortin peptide SAR studies.
