OXYTOCIN 5MG
SKU: OXYTOCIN-5MG | Category: Research Compounds
Cyclic nonapeptide | Oxytocin receptor (OXTR) agonist | Neuroendocrine model compound | ≥99% purity
Oxytocin is a cyclic nonapeptide (Cys-Tyr-Ile-Gln-Asn-Cys-Pro-Leu-Gly-NH2) with an intramolecular disulfide bridge between Cys1 and Cys6. It is the endogenous ligand for the oxytocin receptor (OXTR), a class A GPCR coupled to Gq/11 and Gi proteins, widely expressed in the uterus, mammary glands, heart, kidney, and central nervous system including the amygdala, hypothalamus, and nucleus accumbens.
Research applications include OXTR binding kinetics and activation assays (calcium mobilization, IP3 accumulation), comparative pharmacology with vasopressin analogs (V1a, V1b, V2 receptor selectivity studies), oxytocin-mediated intracellular signaling in neuronal and cardiac cell models, investigation of the oxytocin system in social behavior neuroscience, and use as a pharmacological tool to distinguish oxytocin versus vasopressin receptor contributions.
