IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 Insulin-like Growth Factor 1) is an 83-amino acid recombinant analog of human IGF-1, incorporating an N-terminal 13-amino acid extension and a glutamic acid to arginine substitution at position 3. These modifications substantially reduce its binding affinity for IGF binding proteins (IGFBPs), resulting in a longer effective half-life in cell culture and in vitro models compared to native IGF-1.

Research applications include cell proliferation and differentiation assays across muscle, bone, neuronal, and connective tissue cell lines, IGF-1R activation and downstream PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling studies, IGFBP interaction modeling, and dose-response characterization in serum-free culture conditions. Its extended bioavailability in vitro makes it particularly well-suited for long-duration culture experiments.
